I woke early on Sunday and took a cab to the TelefériQo base station. For $8.50, you’re treated to an eight minute ride in a cable car, gliding nearly silently over the tree tops. The six-person cable cars transport passengers from the base station on the lower slopes of Volcán Pinchincha (3,050 m/10,006 ft) up to the peak of Cruz Loma (4,050 m/13,287 ft).

During this step you want to research (1) what airlines fly to your destination from your home airport and how many different ways can you fly there (e.g., non-stop vs. layovers); (2) what types of points will transfer to that airline (take into account travel partners, alliances, etc.); and (3) which credit cards will get you there.
